In the edge park of Beverwaard along the A16, most of the footpaths have been improved in recent weeks. A new layer of asphalt was applied in a large part of the park. The deteriorated footpaths could use some maintenance. After the construction of the park, decades ago in the previous century, it was time for an approach to the footpaths. The park, which is located on the western side of the district, underwent a facelift years ago regarding the greenery; trees and bushes were then addressed. Street lighting was installed and a name was given to the cycling path located there through the green strip: namely the Roelantpad, which also connects to the bicycle bridge over the A16. In 2024, a new plan was started for the edge park; green maintenance and thinning, nature-friendly banks, and improvement of footpaths and paving was the task. Ultimately, the asphalt was tackled in multiple phases by the municipality of Rotterdam, a fervent wish of the park users. Last September and October, work was underway. The park was therefore less accessible due to closures. Now that it is almost finished, an autumn walk will be much more pleasant for the users in the coming years.Submitted by Ruud, thanks for sharing!
