Footpaths along the park edge provided with a new layer of asphalt

In the border park of the Beverwaard along the A16, most of the footpaths have been improved in recent weeks. A new layer of asphalt was applied in a large part of the park. The deteriorated footpaths could use some maintenance. After the construction of the park, decades ago in the last century, it was time to address the footpaths. The park, located on the western side of the neighborhood, underwent a renovation years ago with regard to the greenery; trees and shrubs were addressed then. Street lighting was added and a name was given to the bike path situated through the green strip; namely the Roelantpad, which also connects to the cycle bridge over the A16. In 2024, a new plan for the border park began, including green maintenance and thinning, nature-friendly banks, and improvement of footpaths and paving was the task. Ultimately, the asphalt was addressed in multiple phases by the municipality of Rotterdam, a passionate wish of the park users. Last September and October, work was ongoing. The park was therefore less accessible due to closures. Now that it is almost finished, an autumn walk will be much more enjoyable for users in the coming years.Submitted by Ruud, thanks for sharing!
