On Wednesday, March 11, neighborhood residents from Zwederstraat, Oleanderplein, and surrounding streets came together for a cozy and connecting Iftar. The evening was organized by Stichting Al-Moustaqbal, in collaboration with active residents and SOL. The theme of the evening was meeting and connection. During the Iftar, neighborhood residents gathered to break the fast and eat together. What made this evening extra special was that several neighbors had prepared something delicious themselves to share (Turkish pizza, bara, lentil soup, cheese balls, and a delicious peach soup). The tables were filled with all kinds of tasty dishes and snacks, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

While enjoying the food, residents started conversations with each other, got to know each other better, and made new contacts. As one resident aptly said: “Such an evening shows that our neighborhood is more than houses next to each other; it is a community.” After the meal, there was also a look ahead to new activities in the neighborhood. Enthusiastic talks were held about organizing a neighborhood barbecue at De Regenboog in the summer, so residents can continue to meet each other in the future. We sincerely thank the municipality of Rotterdam for the financial support that made this connecting evening possible for the neighborhood. And the fun doesn’t stop here! Feel free to drop by De Regenboog for a cup of coffee or a chat on Monday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
