Neighborhood champion Marja van Heijzen

She has been happily living in the Beverwaard since May 1981. Over all these years, she has contributed to her neighborhood and district in various ways. For example, she organized a handicraft club for women at the Focus, recently contributed to the Neighborhood Guide, the Neighborhood Visits, and was active within the IJsselmonde sub-municipality and the neighborhood council.

Four years ago, she founded Meeting Point. This friendly women’s group meets every month at Playground de Stormpolder. On average, 15 to 20 women participate. Sometimes an important topic is central, and sometimes it is mainly about socializing, for example during a bingo.   She is also active as a neighborhood organizer. For instance, she helps with the emergency plan for the neighborhood. On November 5 at 10:30 AM, she is organizing a first aid workshop together with the Red Cross at Playground de Stormpolder where everyone is welcome.

After 45 years, her feeling about the Beverwaard is clear: “I have a great house, a great neighborhood, and great neighbors.” According to her, many Beverwaard residents live happily in the district.
