Do you want to do something together with your neighbors for your street? Starting Monday, March 2, 2026, as a resident of the Municipality of Rotterdam, you can again request funding and materials from Opzoomer Mee for this purpose. Whether you want to plant more greenery in the street, organize an activity with the neighbors, or get to know the people in your apartment building better: there is an appropriate offer for almost everyone.
What is “opzoomeren”?
In 1989, residents of Opzoomerstraat in Rotterdam decided to join forces to make their street nicer, greener, and more pleasant. More and more streets in Rotterdam followed their example. This is how “opzoomeren” was born. For over 30 years, Opzoomer Mee has supported streets that are “opzoomeren” with money, tips, and materials. Three times a year, residents can apply for a contribution for their opzoomer action. The first round of 2026 starts on Monday, March 2 and runs until Friday, July 3.From Monday, March 2, neighbors can also request money and materials again for a green street. How does it work?
Gather at least five neighbors (including yourself) and make a plan for an activity that brings neighbors together. Register your plan via opzoomermee.nl/straat. Do you have a plan to make your street greener? Then register at opzoomermee.nl/groen.
After submitting your application, you will hear from Opzoomer Mee whether your street is eligible for a contribution.New this year:

As every year, neighbors can jointly apply for money for an activity or a greening action in the street. In addition, you can request a free cabin once a year with handy materials for a street activity.
